Serbian Unity Congress
April 26, 2006

Here is an opportunity to see our Serbian American children’s creativity, and to honor Serbia’s greatest scientist, Nikola Tesla.

This art contest is for Serbian-American children. Children will be divided into two age groups: Ages 6 to 10, and ages 11 to 18. The subject of the contest will be “Nikola Tesla” and it can be done in any art form: drawing, watercolor, oil, sculpture etc

The winners in  two age category groups will be exhibited at the Serbian-Montenegro Embassy / Capitol Hill event for Vidovdan this year and will receive a 150th Anniversary “Nikola Tesla” award.

Following the exhibition, the awarded art will become part of a permanent exhibit in the Washington SUC office where our prominent guests from Serbia and all over the world will have opportunity to see it.

This is a unique opportunity for Serbian children to show their own way they perceive Nikola Tesla and his impact on the world, and what it means to them.

Please send your application, along with your art and a $10.00 application fee (personal check or money order) to:

How about adding language arts to this content as well? The form could be poem or short prose (limit word length to say 150 words).

Fine arts are fine, of course, and work best for displaying purposes. At the same time, giving our Serbian-American children another opportunity to express themselves, in language as the medium, would provide this opportunity to a wider pool of contestants. It would also enrich the treasure to come out of the contest.

Thanks for considering my suggestion!

Zoran

My little daughter is only one year old, and she's not of Serbian descent, so she wouldn't qualify for this. However, please let me know when the winners are announced, and where I can go to view them. I'd love to have her see them once she is old enough to appreciate art. Will they be displayed on the internet?
