UNMIK chief in Belgrade today, Tanjug

July 23, 2008 on 5:00 am | In In Focus, Kosovo & Metohija, News in English |

BELGRADE — UNMIK Chief Lamberto Zannier is making an official visit to Belgrade today.

Zannier will meet Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić and Kosovo Minister Goran Bogdanović, said UNMIK spokesman Russell Giki.

Giki said that the UNMIK chief and Serbian officials would discuss issues stemming from the letters UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon sent to the presidents of Serbia and Kosovo.

On Monday, he repeated that the UNMIK chief was interested in tackling practical issues like customs and the police.

Jeremić officially invited Zannier to visit Belgrade on Monday, and start negotiations on the international civil presence in Kosovo.

Giki told Beta yesterday that “he does not expect him [Zannier] to inform Serbian officials about the [UNMIK] reconfiguration, because that is an internal UN matter.”

  1. Bottom Line:
As far as the EU is concerned, Kosovo is lost.
