MOSCOW. March 26 (Interfax) - Around 100 activists of the Eurasian
Youth Union are rallying in central Moscow to protest the unilateral
declaration of independence by Kosovo.
The activists, who are gathered on Triumfalnaya Square in Moscow,
wave black flags with the organization’s symbols, as well as Serbian
flags.
The protestors chant: “Kosovo is Serbian land,” “Well done,
Kosovo!” as well as anti-U.S. and anti-NATO slogans, the mildest of
which is “Stop, NATO.”
“Serbia is part of Russia, and Kosovo is part of Serbia. Kosovo’s
recognition is an affront to Russia. Today it is particularly important
for us to support the people in Kosovo,” one of the movement’s leaders,
Valery Korovin, told the rally.
He also called for the unification of Russia and Serbia into “the
great Russian Empire.”
Riot police and security forces are patrolling the venue.
