Introduction of guest speakers:

MICHEL CHOSSUDOVSKY is a Canadian economist, professor at the University of Ottawa. He has served as an economic advisor to developing countries, consultant for international organizations including the United Nations Development Programme, (UNDP), the African Development Bank, the United Nations African Institute for Economic Development and Planning (AIEDEP), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the International Labour Organization (ILO), the World Health Organisation (WHO), the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). In 1999, Chossudovsky joined the Transnational Foundation for Peace and Future Research as an adviser. He is the author of numerous books including The Globalisation of Poverty: Impacts of IMF and World Bank Reforms and The Globalization of Poverty and the New World Order. Chossudovsky is an active member of the anti-war movement and he has written extensively on the war in Yugoslavia.
DAVID ORCHARD, is a Canadian political figure, author of The Fight for Canada: Four Centuries of Resistance to American Expansionism, and numerous articles about foreign conflict, particularly about Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo. He was also a co-founder of CCAFT (Citizens Concerned About Free Trade) in 1985. He is best known for running for the Leader of the Conservative Party.
NEGOVAN RAJIC, is a Quebecois novelist and dramatist of Serbian origin. He was born in Belgrade in 1923 and emigrated to Canada in 1969. In 1944, he was part of the resistance movement where he fought for his country. He lived through concentration camps in Austria, Italy and Germany. He arrived in Paris in 1947 where he freelanced for radio. He made his home in Trois Rivieres where he taught mathematics at Cegep Trois Rivieres. Among his numerous awards are the Prix littéraire de Trois-Rivières, in 1988 for Sept roses pour une boulangère and the Prix de littérature Gérald-Godin, for Vers l’autre rive. Adieu Belgrade” in 2001.

(RET.) MAJOR-GENERAL LEWIS MACKENZIE, Canadian writer and retired general is most famous for establishing and commanding Sector Sarajevo as part of the United Nations Protection Force or UNPROFOR in Yugoslavia in 1992. He has been an outspoken critic of what he calls ‘anti-Serb bias’ and a propaganda war which has misrepresented both the facts of the Bosnian war and the Kosovo war. He regrets that he will be in Afghanistan for this occasion, but has sent a letter to be read on his behalf.

(RET.) AMBASSADOR JAMES BISSETT is widely recognized as one of the foremost authorities on Balkan politics. He was appointed Canadian Ambassador to Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and Albania in 1990. He therefore witnessed first hand the Yugoslav tragedy to which he attributes much of the blame to Western diplomatic blundering and deliberate scheming. He regrets that he has another engagement for this occasion, but has sent a letter to be read on his behalf.

  1. Serbs have nothing to worry when they protest in Montreal on March 30th. The Quebecois understands his predicament all too well.

    Kosovo has nothing in common with Quebec now, unless Quebec decides to follow Kosovo’s lead?
