Serbia will not recognise any decision on Kosovo issue taken outside Security Council, Serbian Government

December 3, 2007 on 6:00 am | In Kosovo & Metohija, News in English |

Belgrade, Dec 1, 2007 - Serbian Minister of Interior Dragan Jocic said today that Serbia does not recognise a single decision on the issue of Kosovo-Metohija taken outside the UN Security Council.

In a statement to the news agency Tanjug, Jocic stressed that Serbia will absolutely support decisions taken by the Security Council, but pointed to the fact that the country will not recognise any decision which by-passes the Security Council, as suggested by the idea of an EU mission to replace the UNMIK.

He stressed that Kosovo-Metohija can accommodate the state and national interests of Serbia as well as the interests of Kosovo Albanians, and for such a solution it is essential that the Security Council strongly supports the Resolution 1244 and its basic decrees, which guarantee the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia, as well as substantial autonomy for the province.

The key to resolving the issue is in the hands of the US and now we are confronted with the following most important question - will the US, due to its own interests establish a puppet state over which the NATO through the Annex 11 would have ultimate authority, and thus decide to most grossly violate international law, the SC Resolution 144 and the UN Charter, said Jocic.
