PR337 - printer-friendly versionOn the occasion of the publication of the Ahtisaari Plan for resolving the conflict in the UN-administered Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohija, the Serbian Unity Congress (SUC) reiterates its commitment to a negotiated solution that would address the basic concerns of both parties, in agreement with International Law and accepted practices. In its current form, the Ahtisaari Plan cannot serve as a basis for achieving this, as it clearly denies a key premise: ultimate Serbian sovereignty over its whole territory.
The UN Charter, the EU Charter and the Helsinki Final Act of 1975 (among others) all clearly spell out the importance of territorial integrity in international relations. In addressing Kosovo and Metohija specifically, the UN Security Council Resolution 1244 stipulates the same importance upon this principle. Mr. Ahtisaari’s plan violates these values in a fundamental way.
For over six years now, Serbia has been led by a new government, universally acknowledged as democratic and committed to redressing grievances of the Albanian and other minorities in Serbia over violated human and democratic rights under its predecessor. The concerns of the Kosovo Albanian community can be legitimately resolved within broad autonomy solutions, following European standards and without compromising Serbia’s territorial integrity. That is the only basis for a real compromise. The SUC calls on the United States government to facilitate direct talks to that effect, as any other course would threaten to destabilize the Balkans and set precedents with serious international consequences.

Well, we all know what the situation is. The Empire is determined to support the Shiptar gangsters and terrorists no matter what, and doesn’t give a damn about international law. The only hope is that Russia, and China perhaps, do not sell out and veto this Ahtisaari “plan” at the Security Council.

Mislim da je ovo pokazatelj necega drugog - da je vrijeme da se svi Srbi iz Srbije, Bosne i Hercegovine, Makedonije, Tesalije i Albanije presele u Kanadu (na sjever, kako rece Tarabic) na period od dvadesetak godina - da bi se nakon toga, zivi i zdravi, vratili nazad i ponovo uspostavili srpsku drzavu. Rat se sprema, bice to veliki svjetski rat i u njemu Srbi nece ucestvovati. Treba svi koji su na Balkanu da se privremeno sklone u Kanadu da bi sacuvali zivote. Treba s time pravovremeno poceti.

As long as there exists a Vatican State and Roman Catholic Institution the policies of the UN/Nato-EU are always going to be tainted and flawed,none of these organizations have the best wishes of theSerbian people at heart! The Vatican Fourth Reich is their only project, thus the destruction of former Republic of Yugoslavia via Nato/US Army/Vatican politics bombing and held hostage to the New World Order.Mr. Martti Ahtisaari’s office is in Austria, there trouble right there, the continuation of the Hapsburg dynasty!

The SUC press release is a well crafted and timely. It articulates well the SUC position that is also the official Serbia’s position, I believe. I’ll offer, however, that the best solution for Serbia is the division of the Kosovo and Metohia. The division should take into the consideration Serbian and Albanian demographics at some fair-to-consider point in the past, and the historic facts, most importantly the Serbian cultural heritage. Any such plan should include a provision that the important Serbian monasteries stay a part of the Serbian territory. Such pockets should be declared historic Serbia’s (and the World’s) Heritage sites, and be protected by the permanent international guarantees. The agression towards these sites should be considered an attack on a sovergn country (of Serbia), and would entitle Serbia and the international guarantors to the appropriate response.
I am surprised a bit that this idea, which I am sure I am not the only one to advocate, has not been picked up by now and pushed agressively by the official Serbia, or at least by the Serbian diaspora, as it seems very obvious that the two comunities - Albanians and Serbs - can not live together, and that the Albanians, given their much higher birth rate, would become majority, in not that distant future. Once this happens, there will be a problem, and Serbia will have to chose between being a democracy in which majority of citizens are Albanians, or buidling an Israel-style fence, which may be an easy choice, except that Serbia will never be alowed to buil it (not to speak of the possibility that at that point the fence may well run through Nisa)…
I think that Serbia and Serbs should stop feeling that they are custodians of the international law - as they clearly are not -, and should face the reality which simply is:
(0) Do not count on Russia. It will not happen.
(1) Kosovo Albanians will get independence one way or the other, and it will be *legal* because legality is a matter of convention and an agreement between the powers, and not the Law of Nature (powers giveth, powers taketh away).
(2) There is a considerable number of opinion makers in this country that considers division as the only workable solution. You might have heard them on TV, or read their op-eds in the newspapers, even NYTimes. In the absence of the official Serbian demand for the division, these voices have no anchor and will wither away.
(3) If Serbia does not step into the ring with a well tought off and firm “division is the only solution” position, the division will certainly *not* happen.
(4) If division does not happen, the whole Kosovo with all the Serbian cultural heritage will become part of the new Albanian state of Kosova. We can cry and bitch about it, but we can’t pride ourselves that we gave it a fair fight, because the fight is almost over and we are still to show up in the ring…
PS. By the way, I recently watched a video of an interview with Noam Chomsky, in which, not surprisingly, he offers the similar oppinion as the only realistic solution to the Kosovo problem.

i dont agree the fight is about over and Serbi’a hasn’t shown up in the ring. Serbia has done all it could realiscally do. Milosevic maybe could have helped the croatian serbs more.
It looks like the forces that wanted to finish off yugoslavia were to strong. The agreements to end the natzo bombing in 1999. were supposed to keep kosovo in Serbia. Also the dayton agreement
in Bosnia was suposed to give bosnian serb’s a certian amount of freedom in Bosnia . Now it looks like they never really meant to keep any of these agreements . Wesley Clark says you have to modernize and improve these agreements . The improvements he’s suggesting arn’t improvements for you ! But only giving more power to the Muslim’s Iam positive these muslim’s will cuase a lot of damage from now on . no matter which way Kosovo is settled, independance or not . I can’t understand natzo idea in Serbia . United states claims they are in a globle conflict with terrorists but in Yugoslavia they are in cahoots . I think Russia will veto Kosovo independance. And maybe United states will see the foolishness of their ways . The truth has been told but nobody puts 2and 2 together . United states is likely to lose both their wars in Iraq and afganistan , I dony know why they would try to see to it that Serbia loses their’s too.

Lest we forget in 1915 when Belgrade was relieved from invading Austro-Hungarian forces , the day was June 29, 1915 , on Vidovdan. The French hailed the Serbian Army, Le Journee Serb.
The story goes something like this…….
Old King Peter Karageorgevic arose from his deathbed, rode on his horse for NIS and whispered these words to his subjects, they could barely hear him.
‘Heroes, you have taken two oaths, one to me, your King, and the other to your country. I am an old , broken man on the edge of the grave, and I release you from your oath to me. From your other oath, no one can release you. If you feel you cannot go on, Go to your homes, and I pledge my word that after the war-if we come out of it-nothing Will happen to you. BUT MY SONS AND I STAY HERE.’
This valiant message spread through the ranks like wildfire; not ONE man left for home.
Kosovo-Metohija is the birthplace of Serbia and ever Serb from all over the world has given oath which was passed down from generation to generation. Vidovdan was our Jewish Passover and Kosovo Metohija will never die from a true Serbs heart.
Division may be the only solution because of the events on the ground, but total Kosovo Albanian independance should be fought until the end, like our forefathers fought until the end.
Remember old Peter I Karageorgevic words, not one Serb went home.

We must be carefull of who and when we go to war . The story of the 1st world war braverey doesnt interest me much . Serbia is credited with losing 80% of its army and 52% of its male population . Yet Serbia won the WAR . Serbia can not take these kind of losses ever again . Sometimes there is no choice . I think the last time in 1998 and 1999 Yugoslavia did a very good and carfull job of eliminating the seperatists forces with a minimal damage to the albanian population and themselves . Now its going to be much tougher. Al Qaeda is much more entrenched and most moderate muslims have converted to KLA or been murdered . It is a terriable situation now . Thats why Nato can say Kosovo will never be ruled by Belgrade again . Thanks to un peacekeeper that did more to destroy Kosovo multiethnic communities then protect them .
I usually have the answers but I quess nato and mostly the UNIted STAtes got you in this predicument . But Iam almost sure they will not help you get out of it . Go slow and carefull !
You are a christian country only God can get Kosovo back in Serbia with peace . Iam now forced to prey for you all ! Why should the childran of Abraham ,the religion of peace ,and the christians ,not be able to come to
some kind of agreed about solution to live without

Maybe Mr Ahtisaari with his Plan will have a similar “Plan” for the Lap People in Finland (when he comes from)to give the Lap people independence and which he and the Finnish people have denied them independence and freedom and which the Finns have terrorised and repressed for centuries !!! He is quick to grant independence to the Albanians but NOT to the native Lap people of HIS OWN COUNTRY !
